Press release vs. book ads

Two different tools. One bigger picture. Find the right place for both in your author journey.

STARTER RESOURCE · EDITORIAL PLACEHOLDER

Book advertising buys space to put a message in front of an audience. A press release tells a newsworthy story that a journalist, blogger, or podcast host can use as a starting point.

Ads let you choose a budget and often target particular reader groups. Press releases focus on a clear announcement and an editorial angle. Neither guarantees book sales.

Choose based on your goal. For a launch announcement and a reusable publicity asset, a release may be a useful first step. For paid reader acquisition, ads serve a different purpose. You can use both without treating them as interchangeable.
